10 stars ! This is an absolutely outstanding live recording by what many believe to be, Clapton at his peak! Being a tremendous Clapton fan and owning the vinyl since it''s initial release, I was more than delighted to find this release on cd. Listening now, one can truly hear the emotion and technique of whom I believe to be, the greatest guitarist there ever was! Although they were a short-lived band, the digital medium truly pays tribute
to the three very talented musicians behind Clapton. Crystal clear production that sounds as though you''re sitting center-stage at the legendary Fillmore East. This really was an amazing band that unfortunately, only lasted for a short time. For fans of the Layla era Eric Clapton, this is a must own !

Both are solid but if I had a choice this is the one even though it has half of the songs.
Raw and guitar out in front.

The most important difference between "In Concert" and "Live At The Fillmore" is that this album contains the version of "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad" that was on the original release. Absolutely some of the best, most singular and unique playing of Eric Clapton''s career. His chops were way up and he was obviously "in the zone", playing two long solos with a passionate, intense, imaginative flow of improvisation that is different than anything else he''s ever recorded. It is unconscienable that some genius producer replaced this version with the much more pedestrian version on "Live At The Fillmore". It''s as though he never even listened to the original release, and he certainly couldn''t have been a guitarist. Simply put, if you like Eric''s guitar playing you absolutely have to hear this version of "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad".

Not the quality that was advertised
Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2018
The tape is the right tape but that’s pretty much the best I have to say. The review said ‘like new’ but it came the complete opposite. The tape is completely scratched and sounds terrible. Very upsetting since this is a great album. Would not recommend using this seller

This is an excellent live recording for the early 1970’s. The bass guitar and drums are sometimes hard to hear being overwhelmed by the Hammond organ. The sound quality does vary from track to track but it never verges on anything other than good. The recording captures the energy of a good live performance. I have not set out to write reviews of the music content as “beauty is in the ears of the listener”. These reviews are about the quality (or not) of the recorded sound. To read about how the reviews are done please see my profile. • Clarity – Good for a live recording of this age • Channel separation – Very good • Channel balance – Good for a live recording, clear left, right, centre • Sound Stage – OK for a live recording of this age. Reasonably wide and detailed • Distortion – Non audible • Compression – Non audible • Atmosphere – On the whole very good for a live recording. Slightly “flat” in places • Bass – low frequencies – OK but varies, drums are crisp the bass grumbles away on some tracks and not overly “soft” on some tracks. On others the bass guitar and drums are virtually inaudible and the organ can drown out much of the detail at times • Treble – high frequencies – The guitars are very crisp and clear, not shrill or tiring • Vocals – clear and centre stage As a general rule of thumb recordings from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s are nearly always better on the original vinyl. Remasters often fail to please as it’s just not possible to make a silk purse from a sows ear, i.e. the original recording lacks the necessary detail to be processed digitally and show an audible improvement. Indeed such processing can make the sound worse. Modern recordings which have been processed digitally from start to finish can be as good as vinyl. CD’s are often unfairly criticised for being poor quality. This is not the case, it is the original recording or the process which is to blame. Modern “remasters” can both enhance and degrade a recording. The statement GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out) is the limiting factor. Ignore this at your cost.
