  • Metal Cutting - EZ Lock

EZ Lock Thin Cut Reinforced Cut-Off Wheel

The EZ409 is a reinforced cut-off wheel ideal for making thin cuts in metal. It makes 2X more cuts compared to the Dremel 409. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel. 5 wheels per pack.

    EZ Lock Reinforced Cut-Off Wheels

These EZ Lock Cut-Off Wheels are great for making cuts in metal. They make 2X more cuts then their regular counterpart (EZ426CU vs. 420 and EZ456 vs. 426). Use with the EZ402 Mandrel.

    EZ406 includes 1 EZ402 Mandrel and 5 EZ456 wheels.

EZ426CU and EZ456 include 5 wheels per pack.

    EZ456B is pack of 12 EZ456 wheels.

EZ Lock Premium Metal Cutting Wheel

The EZ506CU cutting wheel features a super abrasive grit called cubic boron nitride or CBN. CBN used on a cut-off wheel allows the wheel to remain sharp longer, stay cool, and it won’t shrink. The 506CU cutting wheel lasts at least 20 times longer than our fiberglass-reinforced cutting wheels based on internal testing. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel.

Wood, Plastic and Hard Material Cutting

    Wood Cutting Wheels

Dremel 543 and EZ544 are both carbide cutting wheels for cutting and shaping on woods, fiberglass, plastics and laminates. Do not use them on metals. For 543 the mandrel is included; for EZ544 use the EZ402 Mandrel.

Dremel 546 Rip/Crosscut Blade is a long-lasting, mini circular blade that cuts both with and across the grain on wood and wood-like materials. It is designed to be used only in conjunction with the Dremel 670 Mini Saw Attachment. Therefore, no mandrel is used.

    Plastic Cutting Wheels

The EZ476 is a reinforced cut-off wheel ideal for making clean cuts in plastics. Use with the EZ402 Mandrel. 5 wheels per pack.

    Hard Materials Cutting Wheels

Dremel 545 and EZ545 are both diamond wheels great for cutting, sawing and carving hard materials; such as, marble, concrete, brick, porcelain, ceramics, hard epoxy and soft and hard wood. Do not use them on metals. For 545 use the 402 Mandrel (included); for EZ545 use the EZ402 Mandrel.

Drywall, Multipurpose, Tile and Grout Cutting Bits

    Drywall Cutting Bit: 560

The Dremel 560 gives you fast, clean cuts in drywall.

Use with the Dremel Multipurpose Cutting Attachment (model 565).

    Multipurpose Cutting Bit: 561

The Dremel 561 cuts hard wood up to 3/8" and soft wood up to 5/8". Also cuts plastics, fiberglass, drywall, laminate, aluminum and vinyl siding.

Use with the Dremel Multipurpose Cutting Attachment (model 565).

    Tile Cutting Bit: 562

The Dremel 562 cuts ceramic wall tiles, cement board, and plaster.

Not for use on floor tiles.

Use with the Dremel Tile Cutting Attachment (model 566).

Carbide Grout Removal Bits: 569 and 570

The Dremel 569 and 570 are ideal for replacing wall and floor grout or removing grout to replace broken tiles.

Use with the Dremel Grout Removal Attachment (model 568).

    Tips and Recommendations

I used this to cut through a three quarter inch thick stone and concrete casting (Photo 1). A right-angle attachment for my dremel was essential, since the cut was about 2.5 inches back from the edge of the workpiece. Hold the tool firmly, but only apply downward pressure sufficient to guide the blade in a straight line: about the same amount of pressure as if you were writing with pencil on paper. No need to bear down. I marked the cut line all the way around the workpiece. First I cut down from the outside (photo 2). Then from the inside (photo 3). Be sure to cut straight down, since the kerf is quite deep, and any angle will immediately torque the blade. (These photos were staged after the fact, since I didn''t have 3 hands or an assistant when doing the actual cutting). Eye protection is a must. I also worked in front of a vacuum hood to suck up the stone dust. One other point, which is probably known to most of you, but bears repeating: Always advance the tool "against" the rotation of the cutting wheel, as in 5A. Never "with" the rotation of the wheel (5B). The wheel will climb out of the kerf and run away. Photo 6 shows the final result. I was initially skeptical that this little blade was up to the task, but I was happy to be proven wrong. It took only 5 or 10 minutes. Less time to complete the job than to write this review!

Used this to carefully cut grout between some tiles I wanted to remove. It cut through about 4-5'' of grout before burning and and sending sparks everywhere. I went slow... took frequent breaks... and sprayed the bit with water the entire time. I had to finish the job, so I switched to a diamond masonry bit for my angle grinder. Blazed through the rest of the job with no wear and tear.

For specific purposes, this razor thin diamond disc may be useful... But for any tile work (even detailed tile work), just get a proper tool. $20-25 on this will get you nowhere and leave you empty handed.

These work very well...but yes, they are way overpriced...you can buy the cheap knock offs to cut some tiles or whatever, as long as precizion is not absolutely esssntial...but i use this high priced wheel for one thing only...i use it to sharpen my large circular blades for my big saws...where precision means safety and reliability and there are no substitutes...only dremel brand wheels spin true at the higher end of the speed dial ...every carbide tooth on the blade must be sharpened the same way, at the same angle, to the same size, and maintain almost the same weight...otherwise you will have a very sharp object spinning at 5,000 rpm but dangerously off balance...this little wheel is the only diamond wheel i have found that fits my custom dremel circular saw blade sharpening jig and stays true spinning at 20,000 + rpm ...that is the only reason i buy it...otherwise, i buy those cheapo chinese ones that wobble before you even get them on the dremel...lol... I''ve used them to sharpen drill bits but you have to push the bit against the wheel before you even turn on the dremel...the bit pushing against the wheel is what keeps the cheapo wheel from wobbling your dremel into pieces...lol..dont remove thd bit from the wheel until it has just about stopped spinning...makes the job tricky but it works in a pinch

My house had an old Microwave, with decorative backslash going all the way to it. Unfortunately, the height of the microwave was so small there were only 2 choices for replacement. So with a little research I found this blade for my Dremel and decided to give it a shot. It worked perfectly, I couldn''t be happier with Dremel right now as I now have hundreds of microwave choices. Measure twice, make sure it''s level, mark your line with pencil, goggles and dust mask (100% required), use a suction vacuum right in front of the cutting blade to grab all the dust and make for easy cleanup, go slow over the same area until through the tile (you can tell), peal off wall with a thin scraper. Really happy I did this job myself. It wasn''t hard at all, the only thing I wish I could have added before doing it is the gizmo which lets you use the tool at a different angle. But I still made a perfect cut across with no difficulty

I used this bit to cut 32 inches (linear) of installed mosaic floor tile (5/16 thick) in a doorway. I was installing a marble threshold and needed to recess it into the floor. This diamond bit had no problem cutting the tile using the maximum speed for the Dremel tool. I used a flex shaft to get a perpendicular cut. The tool/ motor itself was too large to use without angling the cut. There is still plenty of grit left on the bit. I found the EZ lock feature less than ideal, because it doesn''t stay as rigid as a fixed mandrel would. There is a slight amount of wobble when contacting the side of the kerf. This tool saved me from having to remove individual tiles and installing new ones cut on a stationary wet saw. Probably saved me a couple of hours. It was overly expensive, a 4-1/2 inch diamond blade for an angle grinder is half the price or less and would last a lot longer, but an angle grinder would chip the tile and make a mess, it was not an option for fussy work.

I bought this to cut stone tiles in my kitchen. I only had to cut tile for an 24" section and around 3 outlets, (a total of 18 tiles). I didn''t want to buy or rent a tile saw or tile cutter. When I researched how to cut tile without a saw or cutter, I was excited to see that I could do it with my handy dandy Dremel tool! I found this little gem. A friend told me to order more than one, but I only got one because it is a bit pricey. It is worth every penny! It was way cheaper and easier for me to buy this and the mandrel to go with it than it is to buy or rent a tile saw/cutter. Like someone else had said, it cut through the tile like butter. I couldn''t be happier with how this handled. From what my friend said, I expected it to break on me halfway through. You have to let the Dremel do the work, and use a good amount of water to keep it from getting hot. I''m very happy this purchase, it helped me finish the small job and there still seems to be a lot of life left in it.

This wheel worked wonders cutting hard and soft glasses alike and allowed me to precisely shape the final products. However, after about 15 pieces I could notice the blade becoming visibly and physically dull. The longevity was useful enough for my purpose, and would probably last longer cutting softer materials like ceramic tile.
